Sensory avoidant behaviours are directly linked to hypersensitivity – where we experience information via one or more of our senses very intensely. This can cause distress, even physical pain. Those of us who are hypersensitive will employ behaviours that reduce our sensory overload as much as possible, in order to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

You will find many examples of these by clicking here → to go to the page on hypersensitivity. From there you can click through to each individual page on our sensory triggers.
